oem replacement and custom motorcycle parts for the BMW R75
Of the /5 models debuting in 1969, the R75 was at the top of the food chain. It carried a 745cc, twin-cylinder engine in its revised frame and was mated to a four-speed gearbox. The larger displacement engine had the same configuration as the smaller variants in the /5 family, which had the camshaft above the crank. A pair of 32mm Bing carbs fed the more powerful engine with ease, enabling it to reach a speed of 108 mph. The R75/5 could be equipped with a 4.7 or 6 gallon fuel tank. The biggest /5 weighed the same as its smaller R60/5 brethren at 463 pounds.
The electric start was another feature found on all of the /5 models except the R50/5, and 1975 was the last year a kick-start lever appeared on a BMW boxer motorcycle.
European models sported a five-speed gearbox, as well as several additional unique features. The fuel tank was larger than the US version, the bars were lower for a more race oriented approach and there were more paint options.
Productions of the R75/5 totaled 38,370 units.
We at Omega Racer offer a steadily growing number of custom made parts for the R75, including handcrafted aluminium gas tanks, fairings, seat cowls, full exhaust systems and slip-on mufflers.
